Easter Eucharist

The Eucharist (or Holy Communion or Mass) is the central act of Christian worship. This is celebrated on Sundays and throughout the week. At Communion we welcome all Christians of any denomination who receive the sacrament of bread and wine in their own church to receive with us. We also welcome those who are unable to do this to come forward to the altar for a blessing.  Through our community celebration of the Eucharist, we tell the story of God with his people throughout history, and proclaim that this God, revealed to us in Jesus Christ, is real among us in the sacrament that we share.

Gospel Choral Evensong

With Gospel Evensong Soul Sanctuary Gospel Choir will bring contemporary gospel music to Anglican Evensong at St Martin-in-the-Fields, using special gospel settings for the psalms, the beautiful canticles of Mary and Simeon, the Magnificat and the Nunc Dimittis, as well as the traditional prayers and responses. There will be other seasonal music besides, some of it congregational, all accompanied by a three-piece band.

The essence of gospel music is prayer in the Spirit through song. The essence of the cycle of Daily Prayer, of which Evensong is the climax, is the same. “He who sings, prays twice”, said St Augustine of Hippo.

Celebrating the fifth anniversary of its first appearance at St Martin-in-the-Fields, Soul Sanctuary Gospel Choir is a London-based gospel choir committed to creating and performing contemporary gospel of the highest standard as widely as possible, to spread a message of faith, hope, and love.

All welcome to this church service. Admission free.
