The Amnesty Lecture: Resist, Disrupt and Transform

Book

In 1961 the lawyer Peter Benenson took a quiet moment in St Martin’s to reflect on two students being imprisoned in Portugal for drinking a toast to freedom, and from the pews of the church the idea of Amnesty International was born. At a time of extreme vulnerability to voracious predators of the new world order, to ethnic cleansing, and multiple crimes against humanity, the Secretary General of Amnesty International makes the case for the assertion of Human Rights.

Chaired by Sam Wells.

This lecture is also being live-streamed. For livestream tickets, visit here.

The suggested price for tickets is £10 to cover our costs, but free tickets are also available so as not to exclude anyone who would like to come. All are welcome.

The Autumn Lecture Series is working with the European Festivals Forest to plant trees to mitigate our carbon footprint. We are deeply grateful to everyone who has contributed and already planted a hectare of mixed woodland, banking 700 metric tonnes of carbon.
