Artist Development Programmes

St Martin-in-the-Fields is committed to offering exceptional development opportunities for young artists across the UK, nurturing the next generation of ensemble singers and choral conductors. The St Martin’s Voices Emerging Artists Programme offers six talented singers an intensive year of training alongside peers at a similar stage of their careers. A key part of the church’s vibrant choral programme, the scheme is designed for early-career professionals seeking to develop their skills as consort and choral singers to a high professional standard.

Led by Olivia Tait, Head of Music Programmes, the programme is enriched by workshops with leading choral specialists. Across the year, SMV Emerging Artists take part in a diverse range of projects, building expertise in consort singing, close harmony, orchestral collaboration and solo performance. While most projects are centered on performances at St Martin-in-the-Fields, others have included recordings, broadcasts and tours in the UK and internationally. Alongside performance experience, the programme supports the development of essential professional skills, including audition and recording preparation, and guidance on how to navigate the life of a portfolio career.
